CHICAGO, Ill. – The Chicago Red Stars, in an impressive performance, took down Racing Louisville FC 4-0. Yuki Nagasato and Mallory Pugh were tonight’s goal scorers, notching two goals each. This win moves the Red Stars to fifth on the National Women’s Soccer League standings, with only two points separating them from the top spot.

3′ Mallory Pugh breaks away from Louisville’s defense thanks to a pass from Bianca St-Georges and connects with the back of the net.

13′ Louisville’s Wang Shuang takes a shot on goal, but the shot goes wide.

18′ The Red Stars win a free kick taken by Pugh and Yuki Nagasato heads it into the back of the net to give Chicago a two-goal lead.

GAME NOTES:

Chicago’s back line earned its first clean sheet since July 2. The three defenders and Alyssa Naeher kept Louisville to a .63 expected goals and only allowed two shots on goal all night.

The Red Stars were able to hold onto possession for 55% of the match and amass a passing accuracy of 81% with 14 total shots.

Nagasato and Pugh’s connection helped the two land in the top five Red Stars in shots, chances created and completed passes in the final third.
