Lampard claims Gordon is in £100m ‘bracket’ as striker ‘undergoes medical’ at Everton

Lampard praises Gordon

Frank Lampard “can’t put a number” on Anthony Gordon’s value but he has suggested that the Everton starlet is among the players “worth triple figures”.

This is quite the statement from Lampard. He is clearly a big fan of Gordon, but saying that he’s worth £100m+ is a huge stretch.

The winger is still relatively inexperienced as last season was his first playing regularly in the Premier League.

It is understood that Chelsea are ‘prepared’ to up their offer to £60m as they look to sign Gordon before the summer transfer window closes on September 1.

Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur were linked with him earlier this summer but Chelsea are currently the only team pursuing him.

Lampard has now confirmed that Chelsea are yet to bid £60m for the Englishman, who is set to feature against Brentford this weekend:

“He is our player and remains so, he is in the squad for tomorrow,” Lampard told Sky Sports.

“He is a huge player for us, I said it last week, not only is he of great value to the club financially, but more importantly of great value to the squad and to me. They haven’t bid £60m so let’s not talk about a number that’s not there.

“I can’t put a number on his value to the club. I’ve been fortunate enough to work with fantastic young players at Derby and Chelsea, seen them develop and become England internationals and Champions League winners, worth triple figures (£100m+) in terms of their personal values.

“Anthony is in that bracket, he’s been a pleasure to work with and he’s ours. He’s an Everton boy, he plays for us and the crowd relate to him. It’s understandable that people would be interested in him because of the level of player that he is. The facts remain the same.”

While Gordon’s situation rumbling on, Everton remain in the market for new signings themselves.

Bringing in a new striker is a priority with Dominic Calvert-Lewin set to be out for a few more weeks.

They have been targeting Brighton forward Neal Maupay in recent weeks, with Fulham and Nottm Forest also keen.

Everton appear to have won the race to sign him though as he is now ‘undergoing a medical’ ahead of his move to Goodison Park.

It is hoped that this transfer will be completed in time for him to feature for the Toffees against Brentford.
