Man Utd have made “contact” with Newcastle over Martin Dubravka but Eddie Howe doesn’t think the goalkeeper is having “talks”.
The Red Devils are looking for a back-up goalkeeper to provide competition to David de Gea, who has already made a couple of mistakes this season.
Dubravka played the majority of matches for Newcastle last campaign but has been replaced in net this term by new signing Nick Pope from Burnley.

Man Utd were snubbed by Eintracht Frankfurt goalkeeper Kevin Trapp earlier this week despite reportedly being assured some game time this season.
And now the Daily Mail insists that Man Utd ‘held further discussions’ with Newcastle over a loan move Dubravka on Thursday with the Red Devils potentially including a £5m option to make the deal permanent.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Howe said: “I don’t think he’s in talks with Manchester United. There has been contact between the clubs, but that will be something that will continue probably, to happen, as in the discussions.
“But in terms of an actual final outcome, I’m very reluctant to lose any important players to the group, so that’s a decision that will be out of my hands.”
On Allan Saint-Maximin’s brilliant performance against Manchester City last weekend, Howe added: “With any player, the responsibility lies with him first and foremost. His performance last week was down to him and no one else. He was excellent in every aspect of his game.
“The consistency aspect has to come from how he lives his life. How he prepares in training and for the next game. If you’re consistent with your actions during the week, you’ll be consistent with your performance.
“We’re trying to give him the right support, the right framework and the right team around him.”
Newcastle face Wolves – who have had a poor start to the season – on Sunday. On the fixture, Howe said: “Very early to draw conclusions at this stage. But they’re an outstanding team and have recruited very well.
“Three or four very good technicians, very good attacking players. We don’t underestimate them at all. They’re a dangerous team.
“We want to build on the three games we’ve had. In different ways, in each game we’ve had some really good aspects to our performance so we want to put all that together for a complete performance and the result that comes with it.”
