Summary

After falling behind quickly to the Hoosiers in their opening match, the Tigers bounced back to take a 2-1 lead into halftime. Ousmane Sylla secured the equalizer for Clemson off a layoff from Mohamed Seye. The junior midfielder took two touches to his right and then hit a perfectly placed shot into the left-side panel.

Just four minutes later in the 16th minute, Seye made an incredible move to beat his defender and attacked the Indiana penalty box with speed before hitting a left-footed outside-the-boot beauty into the back of the net, giving Clemson its first lead of the season. The Tigers would hold that advantage for the remainder of the first frame.

Keys to Victory

  • Continue to dominate in the counterattack
    • Both of Clemson’s goals came in transitions. Quick, decisive clearances have resulted in the Tigers’ best scoring chances and they will need to continue to capitalize on those opportunities.
  • Get shots on target
    • Each of Clemson’s three shots have hit the frame, with two beating Indiana’s keeper. It will be paramount to continue to test him as Clemson looks to grow its lead.
  • Defend set pieces
    • Indiana has earned three corners, while Clemson has earned none. The Hoosiers have committed just two fouls to Clemson’s nine. For the Tigers to maintain their advantage, they will need to be physical and stout on the defensive end when it comes to defending set pieces.

The remainder of the game will be broadcast on ESPNU, with live stats available HERE.
