COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State defense played well for the majority but BYU was able to break through for a pair of second half goals and came away with a 2-0 victory on Friday night at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
The loss is the first of the year for the Buckeyes who fall to 2-1 on the season.
How it Happened
After a scoreless first half that saw 24 BYU shots, the Cougars broke the tie in the 65th minute. Jamie Shepherd took a pass Brecken Mozingo and scored from the near right post to put the Cougars in front 1-0.
Seven minutes later, the same duo connected again, this time off a corner kick, to push across a second BYU goal in the 72 minute.
The Buckeyes goalkeeping tandem of Kat Robinson and Molly Pritchard combined for a season-high 11 saves on the night. Senior Kayla Fischer led the Buckeyes with a pair of shots.
Notes
- Goalkeeper Kat Robinson played the first 45 minutes and played well. She made six saves which was her high through three games and one off her career high.
- Freshman Molly Pritchard also recorded a season-high five stops.
- Junior Christin Baumbick and freshman Dakota Lyons each recorded their first shots on goals this season.
- A very nice crowd of 1,497 fans took in the contest on a beautiful August evening.

Ohio State will return to action next Thursday when the Buckeyes travel west to battle in-state foe Dayton. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. The teams met last season in Columbus and the Buckeyes came away with a 2-0 victory.
