#11 Tulsa (No Contest)

MADISON, Wis. – Three first-half goals got Wisconsin on its way to a 5-0 season-opening victory over Utah Tech on Thursday at McClimon Soccer Complex.

Graduate transfer and tri-captain Matt Chandler put home a rebound off the post on free kick to make it 1-0 in the 15th minute.

Transfer Maxwell Keenan gave the Badgers a 2-0 lead in the 27th minute, taking a feed down the middle, before finishing for his first Badger goal.

Junior Jack Finnegan, who assisted on Keenan’s goal, made it 3-0 in the 41st minute after junior Tim Bielic took a feed near the top of the box and found the forward open to the left of the goal.

A pair of second-half penalty kicks by senior tri-captain Inaki Iribarren finished off the scoring and made it a 5-0 final.

The victory marks the first at Wisconsin for first-year head coach Neil Jones. Badger head coaches are now 5-1-1 all-time in their debut contests.
