Storylines

A Score to Settle: Since its founding in 2021, Racing Louisville FC and the Chicago Red Stars have met five times on the pitch, twice during the 2021 NWSL Regular Season, twice during the 2022 NWSL Challenge Cup, and once so far in the 2022 NWSL Regular Season. Each club has won one match, with the other three matches resulting in a draw.

Road to the Playoffs: The Red Stars posted an impressive first half of the season with an unbeaten streak of nine games, but have since lost four of the last five, with the club’s only win in that span coming against Gotham FC. The club is currently ranked sixth in the NWSL with 23 points, qualifying them for a playoff spot. However, Angel City and Orlando Pride remain close behind with 22 and 21 points.

Flowers for our Captain: If Red Stars captain, Vanessa DiBernardo, plays this weekend’s match against Louisville, she will be making her 150th appearance in the NWSL, all with the Chicago Red Stars. DiBernardo was drafted in 2014 by the club and has been a staple in the Red Stars’ midfield for the past nine years. Last year DiBernardo reached 10,000 minutes played in the league and currently holds the club record for most minutes played with 11,929.
