Barcelona will reportedly launch one final bid to force Frenkie de Jong out of the club in showdown talks with the player’s agent today.

According to Spanish news outlet Sport, De Jong’s agent, Ali Dursun, has touched down in Barcelona ahead of a key meeting with the Catalan club where they will look to reach a final conclusion on his future before the summer window closes on September 1.

The report states that Barcelona are intent of offloading the Dutchman, who is one of their biggest earners, as they look to register summer signing Jules Kounde by freeing up space on their wage bill.

De Jong is said to have made his position clear and that he wants to stay at the Nou Camp but is unwilling to lower his salary, given that he has already sacrificed plenty of his wages due to the club’s dire economic situation.

He is already owed £17million in amortisations and back payments by the Blaugrana, with his future unlikely to be resolved until that matter is worked out.

However, Sport have reported that Barcelona have their ‘long-term future’ in mind and will hope they can convince him to leave in the coming days, with Manchester United and Chelsea both waiting in the wings to see how the situation develops.
