MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin men’s soccer program will be led in 2022 by senior Inaki Iribarren, junior Tim Bielic and graduate transfer Matt Chandler, head coach Neil Jones announced on the eve of the season’s kick off.

Iribarren (pronounced EAR-ee–bahr-ehn) returns to the Badgers as the team’s leading scorer from 2021 when he tallied four goals and nine points from the midfield. The Pamplona, Spain, native is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten pick and a 2021 CoSIDA Academic All-District Team member.

Bielic (BYE-lihk), an Arlington Heights, Illinois, native and 2021 All-Big Ten Freshman Team pick, put home a pair of goals during the 2021 season, including a game-winner in a 1-0 victory over Butler. He was part of the 2021 Big Ten Men’s Soccer All-Tournament Team and is a two-time Big Ten Sportsmanship Award winner and an Academic All-Big Ten player.

Chandler, a Toronto, Ontario, native, brings NCAA experience as a graduate transfer from St. John’s (N.Y.). The defender started 47 of the 52 games he played for the Red Storm, helping the program to the round of 16 during 2019 and a second-round appearance in 2021. He was part of the Big East Conference All-Academic Team for four years.

Earlier this week, Iribarren and Bielic were also among those named 2022 Big Ten Players to Watch.

Wisconsin opens the season on Thursday at 8 p.m. against Utah Tech at McClimon Soccer Complex. Admission is free.
