Hot, Stroud Earn TopDrawerSoccer Preseason Best XI Honors

DURHAM – Duke men’s soccer junior Peter Stroud and freshman Kenan Hot have been named to TopDrawerSoccer’s Preseason Best XI teams, as the organization announced on Tuesday.

Stroud was named first team Preseason Best XI, as one of four midfielders tabbed to the team. Hot was named to the Freshman XI list as one of just two representatives from the ACC.

A native of Chester, N.J., Stroud continues to accumulate several preseason honors, after he was recently tabbed to the ACC Preseason Watch List and the United Soccer Coaches Players to Watch List. The reigning ACC Midfielder of the Year and third team All-American, Stroud finished last season with four goals and four assists over 1,717 minutes.

This preseason, Stroud has gotten off to a quick start, with two goals and two assists over three games. Stroud picked up his first multi-goal game as a Blue Devil with both goals coming in a 3-0 win against High Point on Aug. 16.

Hailing from Lincroft, N.J., Hot prepares to make his collegiate debut after a highly successful preseason in which he started all three games. Hot had a standout performance in the preseason finale, scoring a goal and adding two assists en route the Blue Devils 7-1 win over Longwood. Most recently with New York City FC II, Hot is set to patrol the middle of the field with Stroud, a fellow New Jersey native and fellow former New York Red Bulls academy product.

The No. 12 ranked Blue Devils will open the regular season on Friday, hosting San Diego at 7:30 p.m. The game will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
