Manchester United are set to unveil new signing Casemiro while angry supporters protest against the Glazers ahead of tonight’s showdown with fierce rivals Liverpool

The Red Devils confirmed on Friday that they have an agreement in place to bring the 30-year-old midfielder to Old Trafford from Real Madrid in a deal worth £70million. 

As reported by The Athletic, Casemiro is expected to bid farewell to Real supporters in Spain on Monday morning before flying out to Manchester to be welcomed by United supporters later in the evening.

But the Brazilian’s special occasion could be overshadowed by protests. Around 10,000 United supporters are planning to march before kick-off against owner Joel Glazer.

There are also fears that splinter groups will also try to invade the pitch and block access to Old Trafford.

The American owners have come under renewed criticism after a shocking start to the season that has left the club near the bottom of the Premier League table after two games.

The season before last’s United-Liverpool fixture on May 2 was called off when a big demonstration led to fans clashing with police, while other supporters held up the team bus. 

On that occasion the match was rescheduled, with Liverpool winning 4-2, but Jurgen Klopp feels his side should not be made to squeeze an extra fixture in again when they would be blameless for any cancellation.
