Revolution II Hosts Orlando City B on Saturday

CHESTER, Pa. – New England Revolution II (8-8-4; 29 pts.) fell to Philadelphia Union II (8-7-4; 31 pts.), 5-1, on Sunday night at Subaru Park. Revolution Academy goalkeeper Max Weinstein made nine saves in the match as Academy defenders Jack Burkhardt and Steban Lopera each made their professional debuts, entering as substitutes in the second half.


Weinstein helped keep the teams level through halftime with four first-half saves. New England saw early chances from Meny Silva, who recorded two shots in the opening 45 minutes, but neither said was able to convert before the break. New England suffered a setback when they went down to 10 men following two yellow cards issued to Jake Rozhansky in the 30th and 36th minutes.

Philadelphia scored five times in the second half before Revolution II defender Colby Quiñones put the visitors on the board. The goal was the first of Quiñones’ professional career as the Revolution Academy graduate met Italo’s centering pass and directed the ball into the far corner.

Revolution II finished the match with nine players as Mike DeShields was shown a red card in the 89th minute.

With four matches remaining in the team’s inaugural MLS NEXT Pro season, Revolution II returns to action on Saturday, August 27 when they head to Monroe Community College to face Rochester New York FC. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. ET on MLSNEXTPro.com.

Defender Colby Quiñones scored the first goal of his career in the 87th minute. The Revolution Academy graduate from Bedford, N.H., who spent time in the club’s residency program, also surpassed 2,500 minutes played with Revolution II.

Revolution Academy goalkeeper Max Weinstein, an 18-year-old from Montpelier, Vermont, made nine saves in his fourth pro start.

16-year-old Academy defenders Jack Burkhardt and Steban Lopera entered the match in the 69th minute to become the 24th and 25th Academy players to make their professional debuts with New England.

Defender Pierre Cayet made his 35th start for New England’s second team.
