Agbonlahor tells Klopp to ‘concentrate on being a manager’ as war of words continues

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp touches his face

Gabriel Agbonlahor has hit back at Jurgen Klopp after the Liverpool manager had a go at the former Aston Villa striker over his “unbelievable”comments about Manchester United.

Agbonlahor was critical of United in the wake of their embarrassing 4-0 defeat to Brentford, labelling them a “shambles club”.

Agbonlahor told talkSPORT: “This is not Manchester United.

“If I was them now after this game I’d be thinking, ‘You know what, Ten Hag, just pack up’. He’s had pre-season and they have started the season as a shambles, they’re like strangers on the pitch.

“They’re just not good enough. Amateur from Manchester United. They’re not United they’re divided, none of them are working for each other. Look at them, they’re like strangers on the pitch.

“What he said about United on that show, I was close to calling in. I was close to calling in and telling him, you forgot completely what it’s like to be a player. It was unbelievable!

“When ex-players go like this then you can imagine how everything else is going.”

Agbonlahor has responded, suggesting Klopp should “concentrate on being a manager” rather than commenting on his punditry.

“Mate, I woke up and I’ve never seen my phone blow up as much as it was,” Agbonlahor told Jamie O’Hara on talkSPORT. “I was like ‘what’s happened? Jurgen Klopp has done this’.

“When I’ve seen it and I’ve seen the clip, I’m thinking ‘come on, Jurgen’. It’s a bit too much, isn’t it?

“It’s great for the show that he’s listening to…
