MONTREAL – The New England Revolution (8-7-10, 34 pts., 6th in East) are on the road to face CF Montreal (13-8-4; 43 pts. 2nd in East) on Saturday night for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff at Stade Saputo. Brad Feldman and Charlie Davies will call the action on WSBK-TV38, myRITV (Rhode Island), and 98.5 The Sports Hub, with Portuguese commentary on 1260 AM Nossa Radio.
The Revolution enter Saturday’s match having won six consecutive meetings with Montreal, including one playoff meeting, dating back to 2020. New England holds a 14-10-3 advantage in the all-time series, though Wilfried Nancy’s side is riding a six-game unbeaten streak with a 4-0-2 mark in its last six games. Montreal, second in the Eastern Conference, owns a 6-4-2 home record this season. On the opposite bench, Revolution Sporting Director and Head Coach Bruce Arena, now two wins away from his 250th in league play, holds a 7-2-3 career record against Montreal.
New England stretched its unbeaten streak to five matches and climbed above the playoff line into sixth place in the Eastern Conference following Wednesday night’s 2-2 draw at Toronto FC. Midfielder Tommy McNamara found the scoresheet for the third consecutive match with his second goal of the 2022 campaign. McNamara enters the weekend one game shy of his 200th MLS regular season appearance.
Forward Justin Rennicks, who has started the last four consecutive matches, also netted his second goal of the season, converting on midfielder Carles Gil’s 13th assist – one shy of the MLS lead. Rennicks was one of three Homegrown Players to contribute to Wednesday’s result, alongside midfielders Noel Buck and Esmir Bajraktarevic, who registered his MLS debut. Buck and Bajraktarevic both posted 22-minute shifts off the bench to help secure the point in Toronto.
The Revolution’s defense saw its shutout streak snapped at 402 minutes, the third-longest stretch without a conceding a goal in MLS this season, and the second-longest run in club history. Defender Omar Gonzalez stepped back into the starting lineup and led the backline with nine clearances, including a crucial goal-line intervention in the 70th minute. Goalkeeper Djordje Petrović and the Revolution defense have still not allowed a goal from open play in more than six complete games, or 548 minutes, dating back to July 9.
