Union Omaha Signs Former U.S. Youth National Team Member Shaft Brewer Jr.

Omaha Notches Second Straight Road Win at FC Tucson

PAPILLION, Neb. – Union Omaha announced today the signing of defender Shaft Brewer Jr. for the 2022 season, pending league and federation approval. Brewer Jr. is the second recent Owl signing who has played for United States national team at the youth level.


Brewer Jr. started his youth career in 2015 with USL side Sacramento Republic’s academy team, where he was the team’s top goal scorer, before moving to the academy team at FC Dallas. The Sacramento native has 2 goals in 11 appearances for the United States U18 national team and 2 caps for the U20 team. He went on to join Los Angeles FC in 2018 and was loaned out to USL Championship member Phoenix Rising FC several times while with the Black & Gold. Brewer Jr. most recently played overseas in Norway for Fram Larvik, scoring 3 goals in 24 matches.

“Shaft is a very dynamic player with a unique background,” Union Omaha head coach Jay Mims said. “We are eager to continue to help him develop and excited to see his growth over time.”
