Man Utd are looking at the possibility of bringing in Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro this summer, according to reports.

The Red Devils are struggling to get transfers over the line with only Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez signing so far this summer.

Their need for new players has grown over the past week or so following their disastrous start to the new Premier League season which has seen them lose both their opening fixtures.

It was defeat for Man Utd on the opening weekend in a 2-1 loss to Brighton and they followed that up with a devastating 4-0 embarrassment at the hands of Brentford.

That has set alarm bells ringing at Old Trafford and now the Man Utd hierarchy are looking to ramp up their efforts in the transfer market ahead of the deadline in a couple of weeks’ time.

Frenkie de Jong and Adrien Rabiot have been seen as their two main midfield targets this summer but a number of other players have also been linked.

And now Spanish publication Marca reckon Man Utd see Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro as a possible ’emergency solution’ to their struggles in the transfer market.

It is claimed that ’emissaries of United are in Madrid’ and ‘now they think of Casemiro as a possible reinforcement’ with De Jong’s future up in the air.

Real Madrid ‘at the moment they have not received any proposal’ from the Red Devils or any other club for the Brazilian but, with seven senior midfielders, there is a chance he leaves this summer.

The name of Casemiro – who has won five Champions League titles during his time at Real Madrid – is ‘beginning to be heard’ at Man Utd despite a new centre-forward being their ‘priority’.

And with the Red Devils seemingly no closer to bringing a striker through the door, former Premier League goalkeeper Shay Given doesn’t feel like the club has a transfer plan.

Given told talkSPORT: “It feels like Man United have a bucket of names and they are dipping into it and pulling out a name. It seems like there is no plan.”

When asked why Man Utd aren’t in for players like Brentford’s Ivan Toney, Given replied: “I don’t understand it either. They are not the Man United of old who could take their pick of the best players in Europe. They are shopping in a different market.
