FC Tulsa to Host Roughnecks-Inspired Throwback Night on August 27

Austin Wormell Earns USL Championship Team of the Week After Sparkling Season Debut

August 16, 2022 – United Soccer League Championship (USL)FC Tulsa News Release

TULSA – FC Tulsa has a little treat in store for long-time soccer fans to party like it’s 1983 and their hometown club just won the NASL’s SoccerBowl ’83. The club is hosting Throwback Night on August 27 at ONEOK Field, complete with Tulsa Roughnecks-inspired warmup kits and an all-around 80’s feel to the match!

All FC Tulsa players will wear limited-edition Tulsa Roughnecks-themed warmup jerseys leading up to kickoff between FC Tulsa and Loudoun United FC. These player-worn jerseys can be purchased as part of the Throwback Bundle in which fans can choose one FC Tulsa player and purchase that player’s bundle. There is only one bundle per player and all are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Included in each bundle is the chance to meet that player, get the player’s prematch-worn jersey signed, and take a photo with the player. In addition, the bundle includes an on-field prematch experience and four sideline match tickets for August 27, four passes to the Club Bar, and a $25 gift card to both Society Burger and Cabin Boys Brewery. Fans can also purchase the jerseys from the team shop while supplies last.

A prematch concert from Tulsa native and classic rocker Paul Benjamin will kick off the night’s festivities with plenty of loud guitar as part of the FC Tulsa Summer Concert Series. But the 80’s sound won’t stop there – the in-stadium soundtrack will be comprised of the top hits the decade had to offer from start to finish! As always, Green Country’s best fireworks show immediately follows the match.

After the fireworks show, the second annual First Responders Cup will take place at ONEOK Field between the Tulsa Police Dept. and the Tulsa Fire Dept. The match will feature two 20-minute halves as Tulsa Fire aims to make it back-to-back wins over its rivals in the Police force. The First Responders’ vehicles will also be present throughout the evening to take photos with.

It’s going to be an outrageous night at ONEOK Field starting with Paul Benjamin at 6 p.m. CT, FC Tulsa’s match against Loudoun United FC kicks off at 7:30 p.m. CT, and the First Responders Cup follows.
