Pundit slams ‘very disappointing’ Klopp decision in Liverpool draw, mentions two transfer ‘mistakes’

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp looks unhappy at he claps the fans

Jurgen Klopp made a mistake by not starting Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez in their 2-2 draw against Fulham, according to former Premier League midfielder Jamie O’Hara.

The Reds were far from their best as Nunez and Mo Salah cancelled out a brace from Aleksandar Mitrovic as they came from behind twice to salvage a point at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

Liverpool lost an epic title race on the final day of last season and have aspirations to be fighting Manchester City again for the Premier League title this campaign.

And O’Hara insists that Liverpool would’ve won the game “comfortably” if new summer signing Nunez – who came off the bench in the second half – had started the match.

Reacting to the match, former Tottenham midfielder O’Hara said on talkSPORT: “It was a poor result for Liverpool, you do not draw against Fulham in the first game of the season if you have title aspirations.

Sadio Mane left Liverpool for Bayern Munich this summer and O’Hara reckons it will prove to be a “mistake” this season as they’ve failed to properly replace him.

O’Hara added: “For me, Liverpool have lost Sadio Mane and I don’t think they’ve replaced him yet.

“I don’t think Luis Diaz is going to get the same numbers that Mane got and that might be a mistake. I really do think that’s going to be a mistake from Liverpool.”

And O’Hara thinks they’ve made a second mistake in the transfer market by not going out and buying a new midfielder.

He continued: “After the Thiago injury, Liverpool’s midfield ended up being Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Harvey Elliott – come on, get your chequebook out!

“You’ve got to sign a midfielder because if Thiago picks up more injuries, they’re struggling!”

Klopp has previously been baffled this summer at suggestions they are missing a player in midfielder.

The German said in July: “I do not understand. People told me about this discussion but the last thing that would have…
