Aaronson Scores First Goal This Season

CHESTER, Pa. – Philadelphia Union fell to FC Cincinnati 3-1 on Saturday night at TQL Stadium. With the loss, the Union remain in first place in the Eastern Conference with 45 points. Both teams remained scoreless in the first half, with goalkeeper Andre Blake registering three saves to keep the match level. In the second half, Cincinnati jumped ahead in the 50th minute off a left footed shot from Brandon Vazquez sent in by Alvaro Barreal. Cincinnati would claim another goal in the 55th minute from Brenner. Cincinnati scored a third in the 71st minute with a goal by Alvaro Barreal. Homegrown midfielder Paxten Aaronson would break the seal for the Union in the 77th minute as he chipped the Cincinnati keeper from outside the box, dropping it to the bottom right of the net, assisted by Cory Burke.


The Union will return home to face off against Chicago Fire FC at Subaru Park on Saturday, August 13th (7:30 p.m. ET / PHL17).
