CHICAGO -The National Women’s Soccer League announced today that Houston Dash forward Ebony Salmon has been named the Player of the Month for the month of July by the NWSL Media Association.
Recently traded from Racing Louisville FC, the 21-year-old got off to a hot start with her new club, registering five shots in her first two matches with the Dash before becoming the youngest player in NWSL history to notch a hat trick with a three-goal performance in the team’s 4-1 win over the Chicago Red Stars on July 16.
In addition to etching her name into the history books, the Birmingham, England native also earned her first-ever Player of the Week award for her spectacular showing against the Red Stars.
Salmon rounded out her stellar first month as a member the Dash with a goal on July 31, sealing a 4-2 win over NJ/NY Gotham FC to kick-start the team’s first win streak of the season.
The NWSL Player of the Month is selected each month of the regular season by the NWSL Media Association, a collection of writers that cover the league on a consistent basis.
