Man Utd ‘ready to make an offer’ for defender as goalkeeper reacts to Ten Hag interest

Man Utd target Giorgi Mamardashvili walks towards his goal

Man Utd are prepared to make a bid to Inter Milan for Denzel Dumfries, who is reportedly one Erik ten Hag’s top summer targets.

The Red Devils have already signed Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez this summer but they intend to carry on spending with the window far from closed.

Man Utd have an agreement with Barcelona over Frenkie de Jong but there are still hurdles to clear before they can make him their player, while a number of fringe players will be leaving this summer.

30 is the new 27: why the age of Premier League players is increasing

One of those could be Aaron Wan-Bissaka – who was left out of the team towards the end of last season for Diogo Dalot – with speculation that Ten Hag wants to bring in another right-back this summer.

And the new man could be Inter Milan’s Dumfries – who joined the Serie A giants last summer from PSV Eindhoven – with Gazzetta Dello Sport (via Sport Witness) claiming that Man Utd are ‘ready to make an offer’ for the Netherlands international.

The 26-year-old contributed five goals and four assists in 33 Serie A matches last term, although he only started 21 of those appearances.

It is understood that Ten Hag ‘dotes on’ him as the Rotterdam-born wing-back brings the ‘timing and physicality’ he wants to take to Man Utd.

Gazzetta Dello Sport insists that Inter could be open to selling Dumfries for €40m if they hang on to Paris Saint-Germain target Milan Skriniar.

And the report adds that Inter Milan would ‘certainly not object’ if a €40m cheque landed on their table for the right-back.

Man Utd are also on the lookout for a new goalkeeper after allowing Dean Henderson to leave on loan to Nottingham Forest and Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili has been linked.

Speaking to Plaza Deportiva about his future, Mamardashvili said: “I have a 2+1 contract with Valencia and I’m happy. I really like Valencia as a city, I like the people.

When asked about reported interest from Man Utd and Tottenham, Mamardashvili added: “I see it but now the first thing is Valencia. Then we’ll see.

“It is very important for me to be happy and I am happy, I like the team, I like the city.”
