Romano says Paratici has put Spurs transfers on hold until August as £82.8m quartet up for sale

Tottenham manager Antonio Conte and director of football Fabio Paratici.

Tottenham director Fabio Paratici “will look at opportunities” for further signings in August, but the priority for Spurs is now to sell players, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Spurs have already signed six players this summer, with Richarlison (£52.2m), Yves Bissouma (£26.3), Djed Spence (£13.2m), Ivan Perisic (free) and Fraser Forster (free) all arriving on permanent deals, and Clement Lenglet joining from Barcelona on loan.

And Romano told the Wondergoal Podcast that Paratici and Antonio Conte are “happy with the squad they have”.

“For Tottenham, they have had a fantastic summer in my personal opinion. They changed the strategy of the club.”

“We are always used to seeing Tottenham not spending a lot of money or spending just at the end of the window. In this case, they already signed six players.”

“At the moment, they’re really happy with the squad they have.”

Steven Bergwijn has left the club for Ajax in a £26.1m deal and Cameron Carter-Vickers has joined Celtic for £6.3m, but Romano claimed the priority is to sell a quartet of players, valued at £82.8m in total, as they look to balance the books.

“They need to sell players, (Giovanni) Lo Celso, (Tanguy) Ndombele, and find a solution for Sergio Reguilón, who in my opinion is a very good opportunity because he is a very good left back available to the market. Also other players like (Harry) Winks.”

“So they’re looking for solutions for these players.”

Any further business this summer will depend on player sales, but Romano believes Paratici could look to the market again in August should they move a few unwanted players on.

He added: “Then they will decide if there will be some opportunity in the market; jumping into it or not.”

“I think in August, Fabio Paratici will look at some opportunities, but as of now, they’re really happy with the market they had.”

“Tottenham is focusing on selling players, because they have too many players with Antonio Conte right now.”
