Man Utd still in for Antony as Chelsea switch defensive targets

Lisandro Martinez and Antony celebrate during their time at Ajax.

Man Utd are still intent on moving for Antony, regardless of what happens with Cristiano Ronaldo. And Chelsea want a Bundesliga-based defender…

NO REAL INTEREST IN RONALDO
It has been two-and-a-half weeks since Cristiano Ronaldo failed to report for pre-season with Manchester United. But, still, the only offer on Jorge Mendes’ table is the silly one from Saudi Arabia.

There was talk earlier in the week that Ronaldo would be willing to join Atletico Madrid ‘for a modest amount’. But, according to Spanish radio station Cope, Atletico have turned down the opportunity in a meeting between CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin Mendes and Mendes.

If that was a ploy to suck Real Madrid into the discussion, it hasn’t worked. Marca says Real have no intention of bringing Ronaldo back to the Bernabeu.

UNITED STILL KEEN ON ANTONY
Even if they can’t shift Ronaldo, United are still keen on bringing Antony to Old Trafford.

City are said to have offered around £30million. Brighton, not unreasonably want closer to £50million for their player of the season. And City are ready to walk away if Brighton don’t lower their demands.

The Seagulls are making contingency plans in case they lose Cucurella, with O Jogo reporting that they will move for Arsenal’s Nuno Tavares.

CHELSEA TURN TO GVARDIOLA AFTER AGREEING KOUNDE DEAL
At last it seems that Jules Kounde will become a Chelsea player…

The Blues and Sevilla were around £4million apart earlier in the week but The Sun says an agreement has been reached over a deal worth around £55million and the centre-back will undergo a medical in the next 48 hours.

It was thought that Chelsea would follow Kounde’s arrival by moving for Presnel Kimpembe but the…
