Cristiano Ronaldo ‘will not be returning to Real Madrid this summer’ as the Portuguese star searches for a Manchester United exit.

The 37-year-old is a Bernabeu legend having scored a phenomenal 450 goals in 438 matches for the club between 2009 and 2018, helping them to four Champions League successes.

Ronaldo made a visit to the Spanish capital recently, sparking speculation that he was set to meet Real president Florentino Perez to discuss a return.

But Spanish newspaper Marca say there is no possibility of Ronaldo returning to the Bernabeu as he doesn’t feature in their plans.

Ronaldo’s first season of his second spell at Old Trafford didn’t go at all to plan – although he scored 24 goals, United failed to challenge for any silverware and changed managers mid-season.

It led to Ronaldo informing the club he would like to leave this summer if a suitable offer came in, despite having one year remaining on his contract.

Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are among the leading European clubs who have ruled out a move for him, while Ronaldo rejected a highly lucrative offer from a Saudi Arabian club.

Now Real Madrid can also be struck off the list of suitors, which is dwindling rapidly with the new campaign looming.
