Arsenal warned Tottenham ‘have upper hand’ with ‘winning machine’ Conte

Arsenal warned over Conte

Arsenal have been warned that Tottenham Hotspur have the “upper hand” over them ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

Tottenham’s fortunes last season improved following the appointment of Antonio Conte in November.

He ended up guiding them to fourth place in the Premier League. Spurs finished two points ahead of Arsenal.

Tottenham have been busy this summer as they have signed the likes of Richarlison, Yves Bissouma and Ivan Perisic.

Arsenal meanwhile have brought in Gabriel Jesus, Fabio Vieira, Marquinhos and Matt Turner.

The Gunners will be hoping to finish in the top four next season, but it will be difficult for them to end up ahead of Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea or Spurs.

Mikael Silvestre had spells at Arsenal and Man Utd during his playing career. He does not think that Mikel Arteta’s side have enough to finish fourth:

“For me, the final top four will be the same as last season. So, Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham,” Silvestre told Lord Ping (quotes via Football London).

“Spurs have signed some good players and Conte is a winning machine wherever he goes. Spurs certainly have the upper hand over Arsenal, we have to be realistic.

“The Arsenal fans can be worried, that’s for sure, because it’s his full second season and he’s had his frustrations but when all the players train with him, they get results.”

Meanwhile, Barcelona have reportedly joined the swathe of top European clubs in pursuit of Aston Villa star Carney Chukwuemkeka.

Mundo Deportivo (via The Daily Mail) claim Barcelona have joined Borussia Dortmund, who are convinced the midfielder could be the next Jude Bellingham, Bayern Munich, Juventus and Atletico Madrid ‘in pursuit’ of the teenager.

Barcelona have expressed interest in signing the young midfielder, although he is ‘not a priority’ yet as they still hope to bring in Robert Lewandowski, and… they have no money.

The report claims Villa are now willing to sell Chukwuemkeka for £20m as contract talks have come to nothing, and he was not picked for Villa’s preseason tour of Australia, suggesting he is not in Steven Gerrard’s plans next season.
