Chelsea Announce Signing of 'Serial Winner' Raheem Sterling

Chelsea have officially signed England winger Raheem Sterling on a five-year contract from Manchester City.

Sterling, 27, has spent the past seven seasons with City, but has moved seeking more starting XI opportunities with the Blues.

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has looked to bolster their attacking ranks this off-season as they try to close on the top two.

Sterling said: “First and foremost, its a pleasure to be here. I’ve obviously achieved a lot in my career so far, but there is still so much more to achieve and I’m really looking forward to doing that in a Chelsea shirt, under Thomas’ management.

“London is my home and where it all started for me, and its amazing I now have the opportunity to play in front of friends and family week in, week out at Stamford Bridge. I’m really looking forward to meeting the fans there soon.

“I do want to take the opportunity to thank Todd, Behdad, the ownership group, Thomas, and all involved in the process of getting me here.

“I cant wait to get going now and continue to do my talking on the pitch.”

Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly was delighted to land Sterling who he called a “serial winner”.

Sterling is Chelsea’s first major off-season signing, having seen Antonio Rudiger, Andres Christensen, Danny Drinkwater and Romelu Lukaku all exit, the latter departing on loan.

The Blues had also been keen on Leeds United winger Raphinha but Barcelona announced on Wednesday that they had reached an agreement to sign him.
