Brentford look set to pip Manchester United to free signing of Thomas Strakosha after his exit from Lazio with the Albanian goalkeeper ‘undergoing a medical’ with the Premier League club

Brentford look to have beaten Manchester United to the signing of goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha. 

The Albanian was a free agent following his exit from Lazio and United thought they had won the race for the 27-year-old last week as they sought out a replacement for Dean Henderson, who joined Nottingham Forest. 

Strakosha had been in talks with Chelsea amid a potential move, with Thomas Tuchel seeing him as a replacement should Kepa Arrizabalaga leave the club. He was also in talks with Fulham.

But now it is the Bees who are set to snap him up, sensationally beating the Red Devils to his signing. 

Reports in Italy claim that the goalkeeper is now undergoing his medical at the Brentford Community Stadium. Brentford are also finalising a £20m deal for Hull City forward Keane Lewis-Potter. 

The 21-year-old has left Hull’s training camp in Turkey ahead of what will be a club-record signing for the Bees.

The England Under 21 international has been on Brentford’s radar for the past year and they failed in their attempts to land him in January.

But the Bees returned with a sizeable offer, believed to include an initial fee in the region of £16million, that the Championship club deemed acceptable.

Lewis-Potter is boarding a plane from Istanbul, where Hull lost to Fenerbahce on Sunday, and heading to complete a step up into the Premier League.

The winger is expected to land a six-year contract, significantly improving his salary in the process.
