Andri Gudjohnsen is set for pastures new with the forward closing in on swapping Real Madrid Castilla for Swedish outfit Norrkoping.

Gudjohnsen – who is the son of former Chelsea, Barcelona and Iceland striker Eidur – is reportedly closing in on a move to Scandinavia after dropping down the pecking order at Castilla.

According to Swedish publication SportExpressen, the 20-year-old wants out of Spain after being demoted to a substitute role at his current club.

They add that he has already given the green light to the move and informed Real Madrid Castilla of his intentions to leave.

Gudjohnsen, who is primarily a striker, has had to play second-fiddle to Juanmi Latasa in the central role for the majority of last season. His fate was compounded when Alvaro Rodriguez took his place on the right too, starting many games ahead of him.

To emphasise this further, the forward started just four times out of his 21 appearances last season – scoring four goals too.

Gudjohnsen spent time at Barcelona’s La Masia academy between 2010 and 2013 before moves to Gava and then Barca’s city rivals Espanyol.

A switch to Real Madrid in 2018 followed, making his debut for the B team against Levante last season before earning his first Iceland senior cap in a 2-0 loss to Romania.

In September, his name caught the eye after being selected in Real Madrid’s provisional 40-man Champions League squad – although he didn’t feature once for the eventual winners.
