Should he arrive at Ibrox in the coming weeks, the Liverpool-born star will become Gers’ fourth signing of the summer.

Tom Lawrence joined the Scottish club on a free transfer from Derby on Friday, following John Souttar and Antonio Colak to Glasgow.

Lawrence, another Wales international, said: ‘I am delighted to have joined Rangers and I’m excited to get started.

‘The club is known worldwide for its history, successes and fan base and I look forward to being part of that going forward and getting to play in front of the supporters at Ibrox.’
