Quakes Earn Road Point; Skahan Scores Equalizer and First MLS Goal

TORONTO, Ont. – The San Jose Earthquakes and Toronto FC played to a 2-2 road draw on Saturday night at BMO Field. Forward Jeremy Ebobisse scored his tenth goal of the season while midfielder Jack Skahan scored his first MLS goal and the Quakes’ equalizer.


San Jose took the lead in the 26th minute with a close-range low shot by Jeremy Ebobisse. Toronto leveled the game in the 71st minute before doubling their scoring four minutes later. The Quakes later found the equalizer through Jack Skahan in the last moments of the match.

The Earthquakes will now return to San Jose to prepare for their second consecutive road match when they face the LA Galaxy on Wednesday, July 13. The match will kick off from Dignity Health Sports Park at 7 p.m. PT and will be broadcast nationally on FOX Sports 1, and via radio on KNBR 1050 (English), and 1370 KZSF (Spanish).

GAME NOTES

The Earthquakes currently hold a 4-7-7 record (19 pts.) during the 2022 MLS regular season.

San Jose is now 6-5-7 all-time vs. Toronto FC, including a 3-3-4 away record. Tonight’s win extends the Quakes’ unbeaten streak against Toronto to four.

The Quakes are now 4-3-4 in MLS play under interim head coach Alex Covelo.

Forward Jeremy Ebobisse scored his tenth goal of the season and his 37th goal of his MLS career. He now ranks tied for second in MLS with ten goals this season. Ebobisse is also now one goal away from tying his career-high (11) in 2019 and is the first American Quakes player to score double-digit goals since Chris Wondolowski (15) in 2019.

Midfielder Jack Skahan scored his first goal of the season and first of his MLS career.

Midfielder Jackson Yueill tallied an assist on Skahan’s goal, marking his first assist of the season and 11th assist of his MLS career.

Forward Benji Kikanović tallied an assist on Ebobisse’s goal, marking his first assist of the season and his second assist of his MLS career. He has now tallied two goals and one assist in the last two matches.

Goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski made four saves and now ranks first in MLS with 68 saves this season.
