The 29-year-old wants regular first-team football as he aims to win a place back in Gareth Southgate’s England squad ahead of the Qatar World Cup later this year.

Lingard has been capped 32 times by the Three Lions, scoring six times, and played his way back into the international side after a stellar loan spell at West Ham in 2021, where he scored nine in 16 games.

But he has dropped out of the reckoning since then, and hopes to play himself back into Southgate’s plans.
