Lewandowski to Stay With Bayern Despite Barca Offer; Pogba & Eriksen Updates

Robert Lewandowski’s future is firmly up in the air despite Barcelona making a 40 million euros bid for him with Bayern Munich expecting him at pre-season.

The 33-year-old Poland international had stated his time was over with Bayern following the conclusion of the 2021-22 season, although his contract still has another 12 months to run.

Barcelona have been strongly linked with the two-time Bundesliga Player of the Season.

But Bayern chief executive Oliver Kahn said on Wednesday: “Lewandowski has a contract until 2023 and we expect to see him on the first day of pre-season.

“The situation hasn’t changed. Robert has a contract with us for another year and we’re happy when he joins us for the first day of training.”

Bayern have just spent a reported 32m euros to land Sadio Mane from Liverpool but don’t seem to have any urgency to offload Lewandowski.

It has been reported that Barcelona have offered 40m euros for the Polish forward, although Bayern are claiming he’s not for sale.

Meanwhile, Paul Pogba has reached an agreement in principle to re-join Juventus on a free transfer after his departure from Manchester United according to reports.

Pogba’s deal with United expires at the end of this month, with the Juve move, believed to be a three or four-year contract, to become official upon that.

Christian Eriksen could be headed the opposite way to join United as he weighs up whether to stay with Brentford.

United have made an offer for the 30-year-old Denmark international, who knows new boss Erik ten Hag after training with Ajax last year as he built towards a return to football following his cardiac arrest at last year’s Euros.

Eriksen has a strong bond with London-based Brentford and their Danish boss Thomas Frank, who boldly signed him from Inter Milan in January.
