Forward Madison FC revealed their alternate kit for the 2022 season, the pINK Kit, on National Pink Flamingo Day. Bringing artwork inspired from various tattoo styles to a soccer shirt, the pINK Kit features a hand-drawn flamingo design with varying shades of pink, a bold outline & pops of chrome. The kit is also a nod to the plastic flamingo, where the club first drew inspiration for a team mascot from. The pINK Kit will make its debut on July 20th for the international friendly against Pumas Tabasco.
“I grew up absorbed by sketch art/the tattoo world and have always been hooked by all tattoo styles and what really makes them “Go”,” pINK Kit designer and Forward Madison Creative Director Will Jenkins said. “From older traditional styles with bold lines & bolder color, to more “New school” styles that really reimagine the artwork & challenge styling limitations – I love it all. The artwork in this kit is heavily inspired by that love. Having spent years sketching tattoo-styled flash art in notebooks or random pieces of paper, I jumped at the chance when this kit idea emerged. Additionally, when we were able to bring in the jacquard fabric element, it really allowed us to take a swing at something unique. An amalgamation of tattoo-inspired art, sports & fashion.”
The 2022 pINK Kit is believed to be the first kit in America to feature the use of jacquard fabric, a pattern that is woven directly into the material of the kit. A subtle “FMFC” insignia and flamingo can be seen inlaid into the kit using this unique fabric printing technique. A design representative of flamingo feathers can be seen on the front of the kit, continuing all the way through the back.
This is the only Forward Madison kit to have a chrome badge instead of the traditional full color FMFC badge. The badge sits on the front right portion of the kit. Lastly, the pINK Kit has the phrase “Globally Known, Locally Driven” printed on the collar, a phrase that is at the heart of the club’s mission.
The pINK Kit is now available online or for pre-order in-store. Pre-orders for this kit will be fulfilled by the July 20th pINK Kit debut.
