The 6ft 6in shot-stopper is currently third choice in the England squad behind Jordan Pickford and Aaron Ramsdale and will know that he has more chance of staying in Gareth Southgate’s thoughts ahead of the World Cup in the winter if he remains in the Premier League.

He has spent the last six seasons in Lancashire, making 155 appearances in all competitions and winning the Clarets’ player of the year award on two occasions.
