Arsenal ‘go all out’ to sign Real Madrid star valued at €40m, player is ‘great objective’ for Gunners

Arsenal target Asensio

Arsenal are reportedly ready ‘to go all out’ to sign Real Madrid attacker Marco Asensio on a permanent deal this summer.

The Spaniard progressed through the ranks at Mallorca and he made the move to Real Madrid in 2016.

The 26-year-old has played 235 times for the La Liga giants over the past few seasons.

Asensio was in and out of the team during the 2021/22 campaign. He only started 19 times for them in La Liga.

The winger was also an unused substitute in the final of the Champions League. He still managed to grab twelve goals and two assists in 42 appearances.

His contract is due to expire in 2023. Mundo Deportivo (via Sport Witness) are reporting that Asensio and his agent (Jorge Mendes) are ‘set to meet Real Madrid to talk about his future’.

Asensio’s situation is said to have ‘alerted several European clubs’. Arsenal, Man Utd and Liverpool are acknowledged as the Premier League clubs ‘most attentive’ to the player.

Arsenal are understood to have Asensio ‘as their great objective’ this summer. Real Madrid value him at €40m.

The Gunners ‘are going to go all out’ to sign the Spain international as Mikel Arteta wants him as part of is tea.

Meanwhile, according to reports in Brazil, Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Leeds United attacker Raphinha.

Barcelona have been the leaders in the race to sign the Leeds star for months but their failure to agree a deal with the Yorkshire club has now seen a transfer collapse.

Goal claims that Raphinha ‘does not wait for’ Barcelona to stump up the cash and ‘hopes to close his transfer to Arsenal this week’.

Barcelona ‘does not yet have the economic capacity’ to complete a deal for Raphinha with the club waiting on outgoings before they can commit to certain transfers.

With higher salary offers elsewhere, the Brazilian has become tired of waiting for Barcelona and is ‘about to close his transfer to Arsenal’ who ‘took the lead’ this week.

A source at Leeds has told Goal that Barcelona has ‘disappeared’ recently and they expect a transfer to Arsenal to be completed ‘in the coming days’.

Leeds set their asking price at £50m for Raphinha, a figure that Barcelona ‘was not willing to reach from the start’ and with no new offer from the La Liga giants, ‘both Leeds and Raphinha himself decided to go the other way’.
