Del Piero wades in on Mane, Liverpool, Bayern Munich situation

Del Piero speaks on Mane

Alessandro Del Piero is of the belief that Sadio Mane’s Liverpool exit to Bayern Munich is a “good deal for everybody”.

The forward’s contract at Liverpool is due to expire in 2023. Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino are also out of contract next year.

Mane has grabbed 120 goals and 48 assists in 269 appearances for Liverpool. He has helped them win the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

Liverpool saved ‘another abject season’ of Mane as pure ‘greed’ behind Bayern move

The Senegal international has made it clear that he wishes to join Bayern Munich on a permanent deal this summer.

It is understood that Mane will fly to Munich on Tuesday to finalise his move to the German giants.

Del Piero won the World Cup with Italy in 2006. He has explained why Mane’s departure is a “good deal” for all involved:

“The good thing about this deal is the fact that everybody knows in advance what to do.” Piero told ESPN (via Liverpool Echo).

“So, Sadio wants to leave. They spoke with Liverpool and everybody was okay about that and they replace him straight away.

“That is the good part of the deal. Some may prefer that player to the other one.

“But I want to stay with the same players if they perform well. I don’t want to change that much. But it’s a good deal for everybody.”

Liverpool have signed three new players this summer. They have brought in Fabio Carvalho, Darwin Nunez and Calvin Ramsay.

According to The Mirror, ‘Liverpool will spend the next 12 months stepping up their search for a world-class midfielder’.

The report adds that ‘Klopp has told Julian Ward [sporting director] exactly what he requires’. The respected manager wants ‘a young, multi-functional operator with technique and athleticism in equal abundance’.

It is acknowledged in the report that Borussia Dortmund starlet Jude Bellingham ‘ticks all the boxes for Klopp and Ward’.

It was reported back in May that Klopp is attempting to persuade Bellingham to move to Liverpool. It is understood that the 19-year-old will cost clubs €100m next summer.
