Romano reveals Man City are ‘prepared’ to let 25-year-old leave amid Everton interest

Oleksandr Zinchenko celebrates during Man City's title parade

In-demand Manchester City left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko is free to leave the club this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Zinchenko has been used sparingly by Pep Guardiola, and barely used at all in his preferred central midfield position.

He has consistently impressed for Ukraine on the international stage in the middle of the pitch but Guardiola sees the 25-year-old as an ideal back-up left-back.

With his playing time limited at the Etihad Stadium, rumours have begun to surface that he could leave in the summer transfer window.

Arsenal and Everton both quickly emerged as potential destinations for Zinchenko, however, it seems that the Gunners have steered their focus elsewhere.

In a ploy to lure the player away, it has been rumoured that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will promise to play him as a centre-midfielder.

According to transfer journalist Romano, City have given Zinchenko their blessing for him to find a new club this summer.

The Italian journalist also confirmed that Everton are one of the teams looking at the Ukrainian.

Romano wrote on Twitter: “Manchester City are prepared to let Oleksandr Zinchenko leave as they are targeting Marc Cucurella, with an official bid coming soon – decision was made in May.

“Zinchenko can be sold and Everton have his name in the list as one of the main targets. Other clubs also keen.”

Elsewhere, Lucy Bronze has joined Barcelona from Manchester City after signing a two-year deal.

The England defender joins the Primera Division winners, who won all 30 league games last season.

Bronze made 111 appearances for City, scoring 14 goals, in her second spell at the club.

She also won three successive Champions League titles with Lyon between 2017 and 2020.

Bronze told the Barcelona website: “I’m very happy to play for a club like FC Barcelona, one of the biggest teams in the world. I really want to start working with the team.

“After a couple of conversations, you can’t say no to Barca.”
