June 17, 2022 – United Soccer League One (USL1) – Forward Madison FC News Release
To celebrate and honor the Juneteenth holiday, Forward Madison have partnered with the Black Players Alliance (BPA) and Bootbag to create a merchandise piece that gives back. 50% of proceeds from this limited-edition Bootbag will go to support Fisk University, an HBCU located in Nashville, Tennessee. 25% of proceeds will benefit the great work of the Black Players Alliance and help them advance their initiatives this season and beyond. Lastly, 25% of proceeds will go back into our local community through the Boys and Girls Club of Dane County. Forward Madison is pleased to also be matching the 25% of proceeds going to the Boys and Girls Club of Dane County.
Andrew Wheeler-Omiunu, midfielder for the Flamingos, designed Forward Madison’s version of the Juneteenth Bootbag, which features the symbolism of a fist breaking a chain and the William Lloyd Garrison quote “Wherever there is a human being, I see God-given rights inherent in that being.”
The Bootbag, perfect for carrying soccer cleats or just to use as an everyday small item carrier, is now available in-store or online for $25.
Join FMFC for our Juneteenth event in the Forward Club space this Sunday, June 19th, at 5:30pm. A panel discussion led by Kyle Carr of Featherstone Flamingos will take place before the first Watch Party in the Forward Club space. The Forward Club bar will be open and Sal’s pizza will be available for purchase by the slice.
