Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has warned the club will have “limits” on what they can spend on transfers this summer.
Boehly’s confirmation as the Blues’ new owner means they can now make new signings, with Ousmane Dembele and Jules Kounde among those thought to be in the owner’s ‘plans’, according to 90min.

Reports suggest Thomas Tuchel will be handed £200m to spend, but Boehly has warned the club will have to be smart in the summer window due to Financial Fair Play.
“Financial Fair Play is starting to get some teeth and that will limit ability to acquire players at any price,” Boehly told Bloomberg. “UEFA takes it seriously and will continue to take it seriously. [More teeth] means financial penalties and disqualification from competitions.
“If you look at the models that are very successful, Liverpool is a great model. Liverpool generates a couple of hundred million more revenue than Chelsea and they generate earnings, so there is an opportunity to compete.”
But Chelsea certainly need reinforcements, with Tuchel seemingly wanted to strengthen in most areas of the squad, particularly in defence.
The move for Kounde has been put in doubt with a report claiming the centre-back would prefer a move to Barcelona this summer.
But Sky Italia (via Sport Witness) are now claiming that Chelsea are interested in a trio of Inter Milan stars, though a deal for any of them would be separate to the seemingly imminent loan return of Romelu Lukaku from Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are said to be keen on centre-backs Milan Skriniar and Alessandro Bastoni, valued at £58.5m and £54m respectively, as well as £22.5m rated full-back Denzel Dumfries.
Given Inter’s interest in re-signing Lukaku, the report claims the Serie A side will ‘listen carefully’ to offers from the Blues for the trio ‘for good relations’ between the two sides.
Despite Tuchel’s apparent desire to be rid of Lukaku, Boehly is reportedly ‘still to be fully convinced that letting last season’s top scorer, and someone contracted until 2026, leave temporarily is the right decision’.

‘The 29-year-old is thought to have established a healthy rapport with Boehly and retains affection for a side who first recruited him from Anderlecht at the age of 18 in 2011.
