New Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is interested in signing Christian Eriksen on a free transfer this summer.

Eriksen’s short-term contract at Brentford expires at the end of this month and ten Hag is eager to bolster his squad. 

The Dutchman could make as many as six major signings as he looks to drastically improve United’s fortunes, and he has been hugely impressed by the impact that Eriksen has made at Brentford.

Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong is one of United’s key targets but Eriksen is an alternative option if that deal fails to materialise.

Although Barcelona would be willing to sell him for around £70million, de Jong is not entirely convinced about heading to Old Trafford.

United are far from the only club interested in Eriksen, with Everton and his former employers Tottenham also considering a deal.
