Garrett McLaughlin and Oalex Anderson Nominated for USL League One Player of the Month

North Carolina FC to Compete against Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC on Saturday

CARY, NC – North Carolina FC forwards Garrett McLaughlin and Oalex Anderson have been nominated for USL League One Player of the Month, the club announced today. The pair is joined in nomination by Villyan Bijev and Diego Casillas of Central Valley Fuego FC and Allen Gavilanes of Greenville Triumph SC. Voting is now live on the USL League One website.

McLaughlin earns the nomination for Player of the Month following an outstanding series of performances, in which the striker scored three times to propel North Carolina FC to three wins in four contests. The Oklahoma City, OK native currently leads the USL League One Golden Boot race, closing out the month with a brace in NCFC’s recent 2-1 win over the Richmond Kickers to bring his season total to six goals.

Likewise impressing throughout the month, Anderson played an integral role in NCFC’s three wins in May, recording two goals and two assists in consecutive games to lift his squad to second place in league standings. With three goals scored in eight appearances, the St. Vincent & the Grenadines international currently sits in a two-way tie for the fifth most goals scored this season, collecting 17 total shots.

North Carolina FC will look to build on their two-game winning streak as they travel to face Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC for the second time this season on Wednesday, June 8 at 9 p.m. ET at Future Legends Complex in Windsor, CO. The match will air on ESPN+.
