Chicago Red Stars Tie 2-2 against the Portland Thorns

CHICAGO, Ill. – The Chicago Red Stars tied the Portland Thorns 2-2 tonight at SeatGeek Stadium. Mallory Pugh opened up the scoring in the fourth minute and Rachel Hill’s goal later in the half helped the Red Stars walk away with one point.

Vanessa DiBernardo made her presence felt throughout the game and on both sides of the pitch. For the Red Stars, DiBernardo ranked in the top five in passes, passes in the final third and recoveries. An all-around effort from the captain.

Chicago’s defense stood strong against a mighty Thorns attacking group. The backline, along with Naeher, were able to keep the Thorn’s attack at bay withstanding 12 shots from the Portland side with 8 coming from inside the box.

Ava Cook played an integral part tonight, playing a majority of the match, getting a few shots on goal and assisting on the two Chicago goals.
