Liverpool legend John Barnes has claimed that Mohamed Salah is “most likely to go” when his contract expires at the end of the 2022/23 season.
The forward has been in sensational form for the Reds this season. He grabbed 23 goals and 13 assists in the Premier League from his 35 appearances.
Salah shared the Golden Boot with Tottenham’s Son Heung-Min and he won the FWA Footballer of the Year award.

His future is in doubt as his current contract is set to expire in 2023. Roberto Firmino and Mane are also out of contract next year. The latter is being heavily linked with Bayern Munich.
Salah revealed earlier this week that he will “for sure” be a Liverpool player next season.
The 29-year-old will be looking to help Liverpool win the Champions League on Saturday. They face Real Madrid in the final in Paris.
Ahead of this game, Barnes suggested that Salah is “most likely to go” out of him, Mane and Firmino:
“In the old days, the club had all the power and now it has maybe gone too far the other way. It’s not a question of players lacking respect, it is simply business,” Barnes said (quotes via Liverpool Echo).
“If Salah stays this summer, but without renewing at the club, that’s fine. But it depends on what the player does in that season. If they don’t do well or get injured, then what happens? They are taking a risk. It worked out for Mbappe and it could work out for Salah. If Salah says he’s not going to sign and runs his contract down, I’m fine with that as long as he plays with the same determination and intensity.
“From Mbappe’s point of view, he’s 23 and it’s different because he can get to 26 and have another contract. Whereas for Salah and the other forwards at Liverpool, they’re coming up to 30 and this is going to be their last deal.
