Man City forward Raheem Sterling waits for an opportunity

Raheem Sterling’s future at Man City is up in the air as he considers whether to stay at the Etihad Stadium next season, according to reports.

The England international joined the Citizens in July 2015 for £49m from Liverpool and has gone on to win four Premier League titles, an FA Cup and four League Cups.

During his seven seasons at Man City, Sterling has scored 131 goals in 339 appearances in all competitions with 17 goals in 47 matches this term.

Sterling only started 23 times in the Premier League this season after losing his place in the team earlier in the campaign with Pep Guardiola preferring options at the time.

The 27-year-old has provided three goals and two assists in his last three Premier League matches but The Sun claim that his ‘future remains up in the air’.

Sterling has one year to run on his £300,000-a-week contract and ‘plans to have a think about his future once he is finished with England duty in mid-June’.

The Englishman’s ‘primary concern is that he continues to play regularly after he lost his place in the team earlier in the season’ with the signings of Erling Haaland Julian Alvarez making competitions for places even greater.

Sterling kept his cards close to his chest when asked about his contract situation last month. He said: “At the minute I’m just happy to be playing, happy to be contributing with the team.

“I think that’s the most important thing. At this period, I think it would be selfish of me to speak of any contract situation. I’m just happy to be playing football and see where we are at the end of the season.”

Real Madrid, Barcelona, Arsenal and Tottenham have all been linked with Sterling in recent months with Real apparently hoping to land him after failing to sign Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer.
