Since replacing Nuno Espirito Santo in the Tottenham dugout, Antonio Conte has shown why he’s regarded as one of the best managers in the world.
Conte, who won the Serie A title with Inter Milan in 2020-21, rejected the chance to take over at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last summer.
Spurs then hired Nuno Espirito Santo, who oversaw a poor start to the season and was sacked after just 10 Premier League games.
Despite being linked with Manchester United, Conte accepted Tottenham’s offer in November and took over a team that were ninth in the Premier League.
He’s since helped most of their players rediscover their best form and also made great signings in Rodrigo Bentancur and Dujan Kulusevski during the January transfer window.
Spurs have still had some difficult moments under the Italian and lost three consecutive Premier League games earlier this year.
But they’ve also shown that they can compete with the best teams, winning 3-2 away against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City and drawing 1-1 at Anfield.
“I think this team improved in many aspects, not only technically, tactically, but mentally,” Conte said in May 2022. “This team is becoming stronger in its mind and to understand the moment is to defend the long ball, the second ball is to fight.
“I’m seeing a lot of improvement in my team and I’m proud about this. In only seven months we did a really good job with the players but I have to thank my players because from the first day they showed great commitment, great attitude in every situation.”
Tottenham have now beaten Arsenal to fourth spot in the Premier League table and will be playing Champions League football next season.
