Brazilian footballing icon Cafu has lauded Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold, even drawing similarities with his game to the 23-year-old’s.

Alexander-Arnold has enjoyed another impressive season at Anfield, keeping up his impressive records of assists and helping the Reds to two trophies already this season.

The FA Cup win last weekend means that the right-back has already won every major trophy in club football after a superb few years under Jurgen Klopp.

He could still add another Premier League title and further Champions League glory to his cv in the next week with Liverpool hoping Aston Villa can upset Manchester City on the final day of the season before they head to Paris in search of more European success.

Cafu, a two time World Cup winner who spent the vast majority of his career in Serie A with Roma and AC Milan, has now praised the Liverpool youngsters development, even labelling him as one of the best in the world.

Speaking to BBC Sport, the 51-year-old said:” I have been following Alexander-Arnold and the campaign he has had at Liverpool.

“His progress over the last few years has been amazing and for sure is one of the best right-backs in the world.

“He is young, strong and has developed hugely considering his age. He also has a lot of experience and I see a lot of similarities between him and myself.

“We both had a will and commitment to attack, to go forward and have the boldness to shoot and to put the crosses in.

“The diagonal movements he makes on the pitch are also similar to what I was making as a player.”

Alexander-Arnold will be hoping to be part of England’s squad for the World Cup in Qatar at the end of the year, a competition that Cafu believes they will do well in.
