Djordje Mihailovic Called up by the U.S. National Team

May 20, 2022 – Major League Soccer (MLS) – Club de Foot Montreal News Release

MONTREAL – Midfielder Djordje Mihailovic was called up Thursday by the U.S. National Team, which is set to play four games in June.

The Americans will play two international friendlies against Morocco in Cincinnati on June 1 and Uruguay in Kansas City on June 5, before hosting Grenada in Austin on June 10 and visiting El Salvador on June 14 in the Concacaf Nations League.

The 23-year-old Mihailovic will return to the national team after having attended the team’s training camp in January. He made his debut with the senior team on Jan. 27, 2019 against Panama, scoring the team’s first goal in a 3-0 victory.

Last year’s Club MVP, Mihailovic enjoyed his best season in MLS in 2021, establishing himself as CF Montréal’s offensive creator with 16 assists, breaking Nacho Piatti’s record established in 2018 (13 assists).

With his six goals and four assists in 12 games this season, the Florida native remains at the centre of the MVP conversation, but this time across the entire league.

Gregg Berhalter’s side has six games on its schedule before the FIFA World Cup kicks off in Qatar in November. In addition to the four games scheduled in June, two more matches are scheduled in September.
