Stuttgart chief claims it’s ‘not very likely’ striker stays after Man Utd make contact

Stuttgart chief Sven Mislintat has claimed that it is “not very likely” that their striker Sasa Kalajdzic will stay amid links to Man Utd.

The 24-year-old scored 17 goals in 36 appearances for the Bundesliga side last season in his first campaign at the club with those numbers dropping to six in 15 this term.

Kalajdzic moved to Stuttgart from Admira Wacker in 2019 after impressing in the Austrian Bundesliga and he is now attracting interest from top clubs around Europe.

There were reports earlier in the week that Man Utd had made contact over a potential move for the Austria international with Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain all named as potential suitors.

Man Utd need a new striker with Edinson Cavani set to leave the club in the summer, while Anthony Martial’s future is up in the air after spending the second half of the season on loan at Sevilla.

But Mislintat and Stuttgart are unlikely to stand in Kalajdzic’s way this summer if he wants to leave with a €20m fee being mooted.

“As things stand, we have to generate another significant transfer surplus in this summer of transfers,” Mislintat told BILD (via Sport Witness).

“So nothing other than the renewed objective of staying in the league is realistic for me. Especially if you take into account the quality of the already determined promoted teams.

“It would be outstanding if we can keep Sasa as a player and guy in our team. However, in my estimation, this is not very likely.”

Meanwhile, Jadon Sancho is hoping that a “fresh” start under a new manager can kick start his career at Man Utd after failing to live up to expectations this season.
