Highly-rated midfielder makes Liverpool transfer ‘a priority’ with Klopp’s men ‘ideally placed’

Liverpool look to be in charge of the race to sign Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni this summer, according to reports in France.

Manchester United and Chelsea are also understood to be keen on the France international who is interesting a number of clubs around Europe ahead of the summer window.

Tchouameni has contributed five goals and two assists in 46 appearances in all competitions this campaign for Monaco, including a brace and a man-of-the-match performance in an away win at Lille earlier this month.

The 22-year-old has played at every age group for the France national team from under-16 to under-21 and he made his senior debut in September last year.

Tchouameni, who operates mainly in defensive midfield, has played 94 times for the Monegasques since joining from Bordeaux in 2020.

And his displays in recent seasons have attracted interest from all over Europe with a report last week claiming Liverpool had made their opening offer for him as Jurgen Klopp looks to get ahead of the competition.

And now FootMercato (via Sport Witness) claims that Tchouameni has made a transfer to Liverpool ‘a priority’ with Klopp’s recruitment team now ‘ideally placed’ top land the Frenchman.

The report adds that Liverpool are ahead in the race for the midfielder at this stage but they also warn that Real Madrid are still attempting to convince him to join them instead.
