Tiny Football Car Makes Canadian Premier League Debut

May 15, 2022 – Canadian Premier League (CPL) News Release

Toronto, ON – – Tiny Football Car, the darling of last summer’s European Championship, returned to the field on Sunday, delivering the game ball ahead of the Canadian Premier League’s Come On! Match of the Week between HFX Wanderers and Cavalry FC at Wanderers Ground in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

It was Tiny’s first in a series of appearances in Canadian Premier League (CPL) markets across the country this season, after joining the league as a summer signing.

Tiny’s summer job with the CPL marks his first time working outside of Europe. He made his debut at Euro 2020 last June, delivering the game ball for the competition’s opener between Italy and Turkey in Rome. Tiny was honoured to deliver the game ball to the centre circle again in the tournament’s semi-finals and final, arriving at Wembley Stadium for Italy’s crowing win over England with a new Pride-themed rainbow paint job.

Tiny spent last fall delivering game balls at UEFA Nations League contests, in preparation for his inaugural trip across the pond.

“I am recharged and ready to focus my new energy on my next adventure in the Canadian Premier League,” said Tiny. “It’s a dream come true to zip around Canadian soccer fields at such an exciting time for the sport in the country. I’ll try not to leave too many tire treads on the fields along the way!”

Tiny is a 1:5 scale model of the ID.4, CPL founding partner Volkswagen’s first all-electric compact SUV, powered by remote control. He can reach up to 90 kilometres per hour.

“We are excited for Tiny to get a taste of Canadian soccer and CPL culture as he travels across the country this season,” said Shaun Guest, Vice President of Commercial Operations for the CPL and Canadian Soccer Business. “Tiny has delighted audiences in Europe and around the world since his global debut last summer, and is sure to bring similar joy to CPL fans in the coming months.”
